Regular and Deluxe Editions

As the development phase is coming to an end, I'm thinking about what would be a physical version of Mystery City. It would mostly depend on the game acceptance and finding the correct partner, interested on dealing with the logistics. There is no plans for a physical release. But who knows? The digital distribution will aways be free for everyone.

This post is only an exercise, since I'm a product designer and would not content myself to the digital release without at least thinking about prototypes for a physical version.

  • Regular Version: a good quality budget release
  • Deluxe Version: a very special version for game collectors

REGULAR VERSION

First, we'll talk about the Regular Version. It would ship in a DVD case, with a SD card media.

DELUXE VERSION

It would be sold with a cardboard box of the same size of a poker card deck, packed with shrink-wrapped plastic.

Plastic removed! A good-weight matte cardboard packaging, with UF varnish over the name 'Mystery City'.
Internal finish in black suede paper. The lateral will have the Mystery City logo and the front, the Illustration by Stephen Guilliam.

The back will have the basic information about the game, such as the description, languages and platform support, as well as the requirements. They are subject to change, depending on the availability. Let's open the box now!

Surprise! Inside the package is the Falken's detective suitecase.

Let's open it  now to reveal the mysteries it holds ...

That's right! This is the Falken's Personal Case Notes Between 1939 and 1943, when the events of "The Secret Code" happened.

It's a 32 color page illustrated mini manual of the game and some other goodies provided to the collectors!

There will also be a collectible deck with each of the 15 characters featuring in the game.

This is the detail of the cards. Norma Damron in full color!

The Regular Physical version would ship with three random cards while the Deluxe Version will ship with the entire deck.

The Deluxe will bring two mini dice and also a mini gun:

And, finally, this is the SD card prototype. It's a very good medium since the game could be updated and improved after the release, with support for more platforms and languages.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this imagination exercise with me. If you liked the game, please support it and share with your friends.

Did you like these physical prototypes? Which one do you prefer?

Best regards,
Rogério Biondi

Hi Rogério, where can I purchase deluxe version? How much is it?

Hello, @grayfox77. It's currently out of stock. Due to the pandemic and money exchange (R$ x U$) we can't produce more units right now. But I hope things get better in the future. Thank you very much for your interest.
