GAME SPECS
Number of Players: 2-4
Playing time: 10-30 min.
COMPONENTS
The game has the following components:
- 2D6 dice;
- 16 character cards;
4 special (red) and 12 regular cards; - 1 turn marker (mini pistol).
Each card has different attributes, numbered from 2 to 12.
- Strength (ST);
- Dexterity (DX);
- Intelligence (IQ);
- Moral (MO);
- Health (HT).
SET UP
- Split the special and regular cards in two separate decks;
- Shuffle both decks;
- Players take their cards:
2 players: 8 cards for each one (2 special and 6 regular);
3 players: 5 cards for each one. (1 special and 2 regular). Norma's card must be discarded from the game;
4 players: 4 cards for each one (1 special and 3 regular).
START AND PLAYING ORDER
The older player is the first and takes the mini gun. After his/her turn is ended, the marker (mini pistol) passes to the next player in counterclockwise order.
GAME
Each player plays according to the game order. In his turn, he or she must announce to the opponents:
- The chosen attribute;
- The opponent who will be attacked.
Both players will pick up a card and show on the table: the attacker first and then the defender. The chosen attribute will be compared and who has the greater value wins the bet. The defeated player card goes to the winner's hand.
For example, the player announces his chosen attribute is IQ and name his opponent. The attacker shows the card #9 (Alexei Yegorovich), while the defender loses with the card #6 (Kendall Price), because its IQ is 8. Hence, the Kendall's card goes to attacker's hand. The Alexei's card is a special one so it will be discarded from the game. We'll talk about special cards later.
In case of a tie both cards will remain on the table and the defender has the opportunity to counterattack announcing a new attribute. Both will show their cards and the bet will continue till someone wins. If in a tie the defender shows his last card, he/she'll aways win the combat.
There are some cards where the attribute is unknown, symbolized by a question mark (?). In this situation the owner's card will cast two dice (2D6) and add the result to get the attribute value. For example: Clive Olsen has unknown moral (MO). It's owner cast the dice and gets 5 and 3. So Clive's moral is 8 at that moment.
There are special situations regarding to dice rolling:
- A 2 value: the player loses the bet immediately, even in a tie;
- A 12 value: the player wins the combat immediately, even in a tie, if there is a couple in the table or when another player is using the special skill COMPANIONSHIP;
- In a rare situation, when both players have unknown attributes and roll the same numbers, it is necessary to repeat the cast until they break the tie.
COUPLES
There are couples in the game, cards that sum their attributes when they're on the table:
- Falken and Norma
- Charles and Bess
- Luigi and Meryl
- Michael and Amanda (Mandy)
If one of these cards is on the table and the complementary card is played, the attributes of both will be added to the player who completed the couple.
SPECIAL SKILLS
There are 4 red cards with special skills. Once used, they must be discarded from the game. The player must use the special skill just after the combat has ended:
- INVESTIGATION: the player can ask to see all the opponent's cards;
- ASSASSINATION: the player discards one card, without looking the opponent's hand, putting it on the discarded stack;
- COUNTERINTELLIGENCE: the player takes one opponent's card, without looking the opponent's hand;
- COMPANIONSHIP: the player can add the Chomp's attributes to the previous card he/she has on the table.
END OF GAME AND WINNER
Players are eliminated when they lose their last card. The game ends when the winner gets all the cards from the opponents. The discarded cards are ignored.
SAMPLE MOVES
Example 1
- Player A chooses the attribute Intelligence (IQ) in the combat and shows Paul (7);
- Player B plays Amanda (?) and rolls two dice, getting 3 and 5. The sum is 8 and he wins the combat, receiving both cards from the table.
Example 2
- Player A chooses the Health (HT) attribute and plays Amanda (12);
- Player B shows Michael (12). It would be a tie, but there is a couple on the table. The added attributes of Mandy and Mike is 24 (12 + 12). He's the winner;
- The defender B wins the cards of Amanda and Michael;
Example 3
- Player A chooses the attribute Dexterity (DX) and starts with Shelton (9);
- Player B plays Falken (9), defends in a tie; then chooses the attribute Health (HT) and counterattack playing Mike (12);
- Player A plays Norma (12) and would be another tie if Falken's card was not played previously. The HT attribute of both cards are added together (11 + 12 = 23) and Player A wins the combat;
- Player B uses the Falken's special skill (INVESTIGATION), taking a look at the A's hand; Whenever two or more special skills appear in the same combat, the defeated player has aways plays first;
- Player A uses the Norma's special skill (COUNTERINTELLIGENCE), taking one card from the B without looking her hand;
- Both special cards (Falken and Norma) are discarded from the game and Player A wins the remaining cards (Pauli and Michael);
